The team comprises 5 Consultant HPB Surgeons supported by Registrars, Junior doctors, and Nurse Specialists. This is recognised high volume dedicated centre. It operates a hub and spoke model, where close to 2500 HPB cases are discussed each year from 8 peripheral referral sites of these 1300 are new cases each year. As a unit we perform over 200 cancer resections this excludes complex benign biliary work. Each day we have a median of 40 in-patients/day in a dedicated surgical ward We have access to Da Vinci Surgical Robot for one all day surgical list a week where select HPB cancer cases are subject to robotic liver / pancreas resections Fellows are encouraged to enhance and advance surgical HPB skills, they are supported to lead / run Liver and Pancreas Multi - disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, along with out patient clinics and manage care for HPB complex benign and cancer patients as inpatients. Our previous fellows have gained tremendously after having spent time with us and have gone on to be supported and have successfully taken up independent Consultant HPB surgical practice all over the globe.
