Dr Fabio Bagante

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sorrow that we announce of the loss of a dear friend and colleague, and former IHPBA Kenneth Warren Fellowship recipient, Dr. Fabio Bagante.

Dr. Bagante was a researcher at the University of Verona and a post-doctorate fellow at the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He received his PhD on Inflammation Immunity and Cancer at the University of Verona, presenting his thesis on artificial neural networks for multi-omics classifications of hepato-pancreato-biliary cancers.

Fabio was an extraordinary surgeon scientist and a superb human being, who was passionate about education and research. Dr. Bagante published innumerable papers that contributed significantly to our understanding of the treatment of HPB patients.

Fabio’s kindness, modesty, determination and honesty have inspired many throughout the world and his death has left the HPB community with a huge void. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to get to know him. Fabio will be always remembered as a great surgeon, researcher and a true friend.

Our thoughts, and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.
