HPB impact factor rises by 11.6% to 3.401

The journal impact factor for HPB has just been announced and has increased to 3.401 for 2019. This is a significant increase of 11.6% in the impact factor from 2018, which previously sat just above 3. While many journals including some competitors have contracted in size or remained very low volume, HPB has increased the number of papers that we publish by 25% between 2018 and 2019 and since the denominator of citable articles is so important in calculating the impact factor of a journal, this makes this improved result even more impressive. HPB remains the most cited HPB journal with trend that is predictive of ongoing future growth.

Much of the credit for the improved impact factor of HPB must go to our international team of editors our editorial board and our many reviewers across the world. We are of course indebted to our authors for sending us such excellent papers and our global readership through the IHPBA and its partner chapters.
