The University Hospital Virgen del Rocio is the largest health complex in the Public Health System of Andalusia. It attends an approximate population of 2,5 million people. However, for some more complex specialties, is the reference centre for almost 9 million people. Our team, perform more than 100 liver resection, 50 pancreas resection, 80 liver transplant and almost 100 organ retrieval procurements per year. The University of Seville is the academic institution affiliated to the health complex. The Hospital have obtained the distinction of Best Teaching Center for Residents in Spain on three occasions. The Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS), it is also located in the Campus of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital. The Department of General Surgery and HPB Surgery participates in it with a Research Group. Current Opportunities available: The Department of General Surgery offers the opportunity to perform a 2-year HPB Surgery Fellowship. This is one of the 3 European centers accredited by the E-AHPBA. The HPB Surgery Unit includes activity in liver transplantation as part of the formation of the Fellows. The surgical activity is complemented by teaching and research activity. In addition to the Fellowship Program, the HPB Unit also offers the possibility of shorter stays, with reduced training programs. These rotations are offered to surgical residents as well as surgical staff. The HPB Surgery Unit also organizes specific courses with live surgery, which are also of interest to staff and surgeons in training.
