Brief History of the Chapter

The Great Britain and Ireland Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association (GBIHPBA) was founded in 2010 as a constitutional branch within the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS). Membership of GBIHPBA is open to all members of AUGIS with a declared interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) disease. GBIHPBA is affiliated to E-AHPBA as a national chapter. The aims of GBIHPBA are:

  1. To advance excellence in the delivery of healthcare to patients with HPB disease
  2. To promote and support basic science and clinical research into HPB disease
  3. To promote education and training in HPB disease
  4. To provide and disseminate information and advice to health professionals and members of the public on matters relating to HPB disease
  5. To maintain a national audit database of all cancer resections for HPB disease
