In 1992, the Korean Study Group of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery was founded, centering on Prof. Soo-Tae Kim and Young-Hyun Park, who were the main members of the Korean Chapter of the World Association of Hepato-Pancreato-biliary Surgery and the Asian Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery. The Korean Study Group of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery successfully hosted the 3rd congress of Asian Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, and based on this, changed its official name to the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBPS) in 1995. The KAHBPS continued to develop and successfully held the IHPBA world congress in 2014, and the APHPBA congress in 2019. The KAHBPS annually holds the “HBP Surgery Week”, a main conference of the association on every March.

International Observership to Korea (IOTK)

The Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBPS) has a 1-month International Observership Program for candidates from the around the world. The KAHBPS will select an institution according to the candidate’s preference, contact the chairman of the institution and provide financial support. The amount of the scholarship is 2,000,000 won and waives HBP Surgery Week registration fee.
